About

I am Giancarlos. I have spent more than ten years building software in production and for a few years now I have done it alone, with companies in Costa Rica and Central America. Behind this site there is one person who answers the emails.

Ten years in production, learned on real systems.

I started by building software for fintech, where a mistake is paid for in money. From there I moved to e-commerce and to data platforms, which is where I am comfortable: systems someone uses every day and that have to stay standing.

What I learned in that time goes beyond a language or a framework: to measure before giving an opinion, to write the scope before writing code and to say clearly when a project fits me. That is what I sell, more than code.

I work remotely with clients in Costa Rica and the rest of Central America. The time zone plays in your favour: when you close, I can still leave something working.

How working with me goes

Five steps, and they start with a conversation.

  • One-hour conversation. You tell me what is going on and I tell you how I would approach it. The conversation is free.
  • Short diagnostic. We look at data and process, with evidence before opinions. The written scope comes out of here.
  • Proposal with a closed scope. What is in, how much it costs and when.
  • Building in deliveries. You see progress every week and you decide on something that works.
  • Delivery and handover. Documentation, training and the repository is yours.

How I work, said before you ask.

  • I live from my work, independently of the tool: if a solution is free, I propose it to you for free.
  • The projects I take on I carry myself, from start to finish.
  • Before accepting a project I understand it in depth. When it fits, I do it well.
  • Every metric I publish comes with a capture and a date.
  • Client cases are published with written permission.

That is what lets me say yes to a project, calm in the knowledge that I can do it well.
